The Shine on Critique! project is seeking applicants for five residencies aimed at art critics travelling from Finland. The application period is open until May 16. Applications can be submitted in Finnish, English or Swedish.
The residencies are aimed at critics working with various artforms. The included fields are literature, dance/theatre, visual arts, film, and music. The residencies last about a week and have all been organised with a particular event in mind. The residencies have been set up to promote the professional skills and the networking of critics.
You can apply for a residency if you are an art critic or art writer. The project will offer a grant for travel and accommodation costs, but the critic will be responsible for booking the trip and finding accommodation at their destination. Grant amounts will vary depending on the destination’s accessibility and price level. The resident is expected to attend the destination festival or event.
The program at each location as well as the arrangements for obtaining or accrediting tickets will be decided on with the chosen critics on a case-by-case basis. Each critic will also have free time to get acquainted with their destination as well as for independent work.
Chosen critics are expected to write an entry for the project’s blog. The entry can be written in English, Finnish or Swedish.
